Buddy Williams makes CTV News BC

We all know Dave Gerry loves biographies. But, who knew he had a soft sport for fictional memoirs, too. During a late December edition of CTV British Columbia’s “The Last Word with Mike McCardell and Dave Gerry,” just before presenting the host of famous biographies that Dave has consumed over the years, he holds up his very own copy of The Adventures of Buddy Williams, Book 3: WinterFree for all to see. Why? Because although the lives of all those politicians and celebrities are interesting, Dave knows one thing that others who haven’t yet read the book don’t: the life and times of Buddy, Riel and Mokey is far more entertaining than those Kennedys.

Don’t believe it? Pick up your own copy of WinterFree today and find out.

FallGently book tour stops in the Hat

Medicine Hat, the fourth stop on The Adventures of Buddy Williams book tour, was just what the doctor ordered. All eyes were on the cover of Book 2: FallGently as many passersby stopped to remark on how it reminded them of their own experiences out on the fall prairie.

A warm thank you to the good people of Coles Books in Medicine Hat Mall for offering up a great spot in the middle of all the action.

Thank you also to Brandy Mulder for allowing the use of this photo of Jordan Mulder, who stopped in to have his own copies of FallGently and SummerWild (which mom had previously ordered online) signed by the author. Little Cara Mulder was too shy for the camera, but proclaimed she would crack the covers of both of her brother’s books once she knew how to read well enough. Another Adventures of Buddy Williams fan in the making.

A new review from southern Alberta has some great things to say about The Adventures of Buddy Williams, Book 1: SummerWild. The review, by Sonja Herter, can be read in it’s entirety on the Medicine Hat News website. Herter’s account of the events in SummerWild, the first in the Buddy series, is also attached below. For the most part, Herter admits that there will be a certain appeal among young male readers, but at the same time recognizes that readers of any age or gender will enjoy the book. For those with educational goals, Herter, who is a former teacher herself, recommends the accompanying student study guide for an in-depth study of the novel.

The e-tearsheet is attached here also so that you can read Stockfish’s account of the events that unravel in SummerWild and how he feels about them. Stockfish, like others, also remarks on how the readership demographic might end up extending far beyond the targeted readers of juvenile fiction. Indeed he echoes Degrass in saying that readers young and old will be entertained by the book.
